The transfer of energy from green plants (primary producers) through a sequence of organism in which each eats the one below it in the chain and is eaten by above. Thus plant (grass) is eaten by herbivore (grasshopper), which are the eaten by carnivores (grasshopper is eaten by rat; rat is eaten by snake; and the snake is eaten by the eagle).
